MICHIGAN RECRUITING Tech in December, but he may elect to stay in high school rather than start his Michigan career. Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice quarterback Alex Malzone is a four-star recruit and the No. 12 pro-style quarterback nationally. Al- though his school does not tradition- ally offer mid-term graduation, the 6-2, 205-pounder took online classes in the summer in order to set up his early enrollment at Michigan. The top-rated player in Michigan's class is Lincolnton (N.C.) defensive lineman Darian Roseboro. The 6-4, 283-pounder is the No. 6 defensive tackle (though he'll play on the end in college) and No. 42 overall pros- pect nationally. He plans to head to U-M for his official visit during the Penn State game Oct. 11, then return permanently just a few months later to begin his college career prior to spring practice. Indianapolis Lawrence Central linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. is the last Wolverine with definite plans to begin his college career in January. The 6-1, 233-pounder is the No. 7 in- side linebacker and No. 167 overall player nationally, and he will gradu- ate in December in order to start his Michigan career. Other members of the Michigan class, including tight end Chris Clark, a four-star out of Avon (Conn.) Old Farms School, have mentioned the possibility of enrolling early, but haven't made definite plans to do so. It's also likely that players added to the class later in the process will consider early enrollment. Even if Michigan adds just those five players in January, that's a strong part of the group whose re- maining members will sign with the Maize and Blue in February and head to campus in June. U‑M ADDS 2015 WALK‑ON Tight end Craig Dunaway played at Michigan 1979-82, catching 55 total passes for 775 yards (14.1 per catch) and eight touchdowns during his time in the winged helmet. His legacy at Michigan will be carried on by son Jack, who will walk on with Michigan's 2015 class. The younger Dunaway, a defen- sive end at Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice — where he's a team- mate of 2015 quarterback pledge Alex Malzone — is the first player to make a preferred walk-on com- mitment to the Wolverines' 2015 class. He also had options in the Ivy League, and was looking at Mid- American Conference programs in hopes of earning a scholarship offer. "The more I thought about it and the more I saw Michigan," he ex- plained, "the more I just realized that it was the place I wanted to be no matter what scholarship comes my way or not." Dunaway contributed 67 tack- les, with an eye-popping 17 for loss (including 15 sacks), during his ju- nior season at Brother Rice, which went undefeated and won its third straight state title in Division 2, Michigan's second-largest classifica- tion. Dunaway also contributed two forced fumbles and 19 quarterback
