Another Texas center that has ex- pressed interest in the Irish is 6-4 Dun- canville native Ciera Johnson, who is ranked 16th by espnW and also boasts a 3.6 grade-point average. With such sustained recruiting suc- cess, continued ACC titles and national title runs will be in Notre Dame's fore- cast. ✦ TAYA REIMER SELECTED TO USA PAN AMERICAN GAMES TEAM Junior forward Taya Reimer earned a place on her fourth USA Basketball team in five years when she was named to the 12-player USA Pan American Games Team May 17. Fifty-one players competed three days in the USA Basketball Junior National Team Trials at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Reimer was one of three two-time gold medalists who made the cut. The Americans will begin Group A round- robin play at the eight-team Pan Am Games tournament July 16 against Brazil, with other preliminary-round games to fol- low against the Dominican Republic (July 17) and Puerto Rico (July 18). The top two teams in each of the two preliminary groups will advance to the medal round semifinals July 19, with the gold and bronze medal games slated for July 20. Headlining Group B in this year's Pan Am Games event is host Canada, whose roster likely will include two-time Notre Dame All-American forward Natalie Achonwa (a 2014 graduate), who opened training camp May 17 with the Indiana Fever of the Women's National Basketball Association. Meanwhile, Notre Dame incoming fresh- man guard Ali Patberg was chosen as an alternate for the USA Under-19 World Championship Team. She will be "on call" in the event a member of the 12-player USA U19 World Championship Team is unable to compete due to injury or illness. — Lou Somogyi Reimer is a two-time gold medalist and has now earned a spot on a USA Basketball team in four of the past five years.
