or the third time in the last four
years, Notre Dame's men's la-
crosse team advanced to the national
semifinals.
The No. 1-seeded Irish defeated
Towson 12-10 at home May 9 in the
first round of the NCAA Tourna-
ment, before knocking out Albany
14-10 in the quarterfinals May 16.
Albany, which featured one of the
greatest lacrosse players of this gen-
eration in attack Lyle Thompson,
scored five straight goals in the third
quarter to take a 9-8 lead over the
Irish with 2:25 left in the period.
But Notre Dame answered with six
straight goals in the fourth quarter,
including two apiece from sopho-
more midfielder Sergio Perkovic and
senior midfielder Nick Ossello, to
take a 14-9 lead with 5:45 to play.
Perkovic led the Irish with four goals
and an assist for five total points,
