Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher told The Orlando Sentinel on May 11 that he had met with Golson and had been "negotiating" with him. "He's a great young man, I really enjoyed getting to know him," said Fisher, who saw Golson complete 31 of 52 passes for 313 yards with three touchdowns in Notre Dame's 31-27 loss at FSU last Oct. 18 — with the game- winning fourth touchdown wiped out by a controversial offensive interfer- ence penalty. "Good player, played re- ally good against us." Golson then reportedly met with Florida the following day and then Georgia two days later. Golson's main competition at FSU will be Sean Mc- Guire, who completed 21 of 39 attempts for 304 yards with one touchdown and After not being declared Notre Dame's definite starter at the end of spring, Golson decided to use his fifth season of eligibility at Florida State.
