FOOTBALL RECRUITING
both prospects on campus, but the
most intriguing offers went out to a
duo in Southern California.
Irish associate head coach Mike
Denbrock was in Orange County to
offer Gardena Junipero Serra four-
star safety CJ Pollard and Los Angeles
Loyola four-star athlete David Long.
Pollard, whose father played at
USC, said the offer put the Irish right
into his top six.
"It's big," Pollard said. "Notre Dame
is a prestigious school, and they have
a great education. I definitely want to
take a visit out there."
Long, who can play on both sides of
the ball, echoed Pollard's stance even
though he admitted that he thought
the Irish had passed on him earlier.
"Note Dame is just one of those
schools that regardless of when they
come in, you have to give them some
type of attention," Long said. "With
the tradition they established and
the type of environment that they are
in, it's something that mimics what
Loyola has, and it's something that I
like. That's something that I can see
myself being a part of."
The 6-1, 190-pound Pollard is
ranked by Rivals as the No. 19 safety
in the country and the No. 39 prospect
in California. Long, who runs a 10.67
in the 100-meter dash, is the No. 30
athlete in the country and the No. 41
prospect in the state.
Rivals.com rates Los Angeles Loyola product David Long as a four-star recruit, the No. 30 athlete in the
country and the No. 41 player in California.
