BASKETBALL RECRUITING one U-M has just started watching. The 5-11, Rivals' three-star holds of- fers from mid-major-plus schools, but Wisconsin and Marquette are among those watching him closely. The Wolverines are also looking at Detroit Renaissance three-star Justin Turner, a 6-3 combo guard. "Michigan has always been a school I grew up watching," Turner said. "My family has always had the Michigan State/Michigan battle, but something about the Maize and Blue just stuck with me." CLASS OF 2016 NOTES • Four-star Bruce Brown (6-3, 180, Rivals.com's No. 52 player in the class of 2016) out of Saxtons River, Vt., told Peegs.com (a site covering Indiana sports) recently "Arizona, Michigan, Indiana and Texas" were the schools re c r u i t i n g h i m h a rd e s t , b u t U - M seems to be pursuing other guards more diligently. • One-time 2016 point guard target Jamal Murray of Kitchener (Ontario) Athlete Institute, a Rivals' five-star, re- classified to 2015 and chose Kentucky. • Four-star Michigan pledge Jon Teske (7-0, No. 104) played well for AAU Team Work at the adidas Invitational in India- napolis over the July 10 weekend. "I'd guesstimate he averaged eight points, 10 boards, three assists and four or five blocks a game," Team Work coach Collin Barth shared. "He impacts games so much with his presence. His best game was against Indy Hoosiers. They have a 6-10 kid committed to Butler, and Jon just absolutely dominated him on both ends of the floor." • Three-star commitment Austin Da- vis (6-10) of Onsted, Mich., notched 13 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Upward Starts in adidas Gauntlet play over the July 10 weekend. He also re- corded games of eight points and six rebounds, and eight points and 12 boards. MICHIGAN HOSTS CLASS OF 2017 VISITORS Michigan coaches have yet to ex- tend offers to any 2017 recruits, but when they do, Indianapolis Park Tu- dor's Jaren Jackson could be among the first to receive one. The 6-8, 197-pounder, who is ranked as Ri- vals' No. 48 rising junior nationally, recently visited U-M and is building a relationship with the coaches. Beilein hosted him when he was on campus in early July, and the visit couldn't have gone much better. "It was really good," Jackson said. "Coach showed me around, I met all the coaches I saw a year ago at their elite camp, I got to see video of how they play and they showed me around campus. "Actually, the presentation was mostly on academics … showing me the life of being a student-athlete and a basketball player, how they balance those schedules and what they do day to day. I liked how they showed me what players would be doing each day, all the responsibility." Both of his parents were impressed, too. "My mom and dad were with me, and they loved it," he said. Jackson averaged 10 points, seven
