INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS
Five Years Ago, 2011: Michigan's
softball team closed out the month of
April with a 9-1, five-inning battering
of Wisconsin at the Goodman Softball
Complex in Madison. Carol Hutchins'
No. 2-ranked Wolverines thus headed
for May with a 43-4 record, including an
11-2 Big Ten mark.
A team that had already knocked off
No. 6 Arizona State and No. 7 Arizona,
along with opening the season on a 17-
game win streak, took little pity on the
Badgers. Right-handed pitcher Jordan
Taylor struck out 10, allowing three hits
and fanning the side in both the second
and fifth innings.
Softball coach Carol Hutchins' squad started the 2011 season 43-4, including an 11-2 Big Ten
mark, en route to a conference title and NCAA Regional runner-up finish.
