FOOTBALL RECRUITING makes Michigan — an out‑of‑region school he has already visited twice — a very serious contender for him, as long as they continue the fervor of their recruitment. Lamont Wade • Cornerback 5‑9, 182 • Clairton High School, Clairton, Pa. No. 1 player in Pennsylvania, and No. 1 CB and No. 8 overall talent nationally Wade is one of the country's best cornerbacks, using instinct and athleticism to make up for a lack of ideal size. He's capable of staying in a receiver's hip pocket, and perhaps most impressively, is a serious ball‑hawk on the occasion a quarterback makes the unwise decision to throw in his direction. Wade was high on Michigan early in the process, but a delay in offering saw the Wolverines slip behind the likes of Ohio State and a couple others. Eno Benjamin • Running Back 5‑9, 193 • Wylie East High School, Wylie, Texas No. 36 prospect in Texas and No. 14 RB nationally Benjamin is built like a bowling ball, but is shifty and has the speed to take it the distance when he sees a bit of open field. He has power to his game as well and might be a good complement to current pledge Kurt Taylor. Benjamin was very high on Michigan before the Wolverines of‑ fered, and took a nearly immediate trip to campus when that offer finally came through. Michigan will have to battle Iowa, but as long as they want Benjamin they should be able to stay near the forefront of his recruitment. ❏ Five-Stars To Watch While they aren't among the most likely to end up donning the winged hel‑ met, Michigan's staff — yet again — is targeting some of the best players in the country. Here are some of the top‑ranked prospects with U‑M interest. Houston Episcopal defensive tackle Marvin Wilson The top overall prospect in the country has expressed interest in visiting Ann Arbor eventually. Antioch (Calif.) running back Najee Harris Though committed to Alabama, the country's top running back has expressed interest in other schools, and that should include a trip to Michigan. Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Trevon Grimes The Indianapolis native and nation's best receiver favors Ohio State early in
