The three forwards give Michigan three 50-point producers for the first time since 2006-07 when T.J. Hensick (69), Kevin Porter (58) and Andrew Cogliano (50) all reached that mark. Prior to that, U-M last had three 50-point producers in 1996-97, when six Wolverines hit the mark. ❏ Getting To Know Junior Forward Max Shuart Michigan's fourth‑line center, junior Max Sh‑ uart has achieved career highs in goals (five) and points (14) in 34 games through March 14. The 6‑1, 192‑pound Northville, Mich., native is one of U‑M's top defensive forwards and could be key to a postseason run. Nickname: "Shuey. It doesn't come from any‑ where but my last name. Typical hockey puns, add a 'y.' It was the obvious pick." Favorite Class: "One I'm in now, it's about con‑ stitutional politics. I find it to be pretty interesting. Pretty relevant with everything that's going on in our country." Best Meal He Can Make On His Own: "I can only make one meal, chicken and a potato — which I make on the grill, add a little salt, pepper and olive oil to the potato." Favorite Restaurant: "Has to be, hands down, the Brown Jug. Good food, good establishment. I get the meatball marinara sandwich. I'm hoping it will be named after me one day." TV Show: "I'm making my way through 'House of Cards' right now on Netflix." Last Movie He'd Give Two Thumbs Up To: "During the season, we're pretty busy so the last movie I saw that I liked was 'The Italian Job.'" Roommate On The Road: "[Junior forward] Alex Kile. One thing I didn't know is he naps for like two and half hours on game day. But it's working for him, so I might extend my nap time." Hockey Idol: "Growing up in Detroit, it's always been Steve Yzerman. He played the game so well and now having success as an executive is really cool to see." Shuart notched five goals and nine assists in the season's first 34 games, and is also one of the team's top defensive for- wards. PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL
