34 ■ THE WOLFPACKER TRACKING THE PACK wolfpacker spotlight ALEXIA ZEVNIK Graduate • Swimming Alexia Zevnik put together a successful senior season in 2017-18, capping it by finishing second in the 200 backstroke, sixth in the 200 individual medley and 11th in the 100 backstroke at the NCAA Championships. In addition, she was named the ACC's Most Valuable Women's Swimmer after sweeping the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley at the league meet. Zevnik also received ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in 2018. All those things contributed to Zevnik — who completed her undergraduate studies this past spring — being nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, which is given to a graduating female student-athlete who has "distinguished herself throughout her collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership." In the classroom, Zevnik graduated with a 3.79 grade point average while double majoring in biological sciences and business administration. She was also involved in charity work through C.A.R.E. for Animals, Habitat for Humanity, Read Across America and Swim for Life. Zevnik has continued her swimming success since graduating. She was second in the 100-meter freestyle at the Canadian Swimming Trials over the summer, earning her a spot on the National Team for the Pan Pacific Championships Aug. 9-14 in Tokyo. — Matt Carter/Photo courtesy NC State Media Relations
