40 ■ THE WOLFPACKER get the reputations of being high mainte- nance, that isn't the case with the Wolfpack trio — at least most of the time. "I don't think any of our guys are divas," Jones said. "They enjoy the spotlight some- times. They score the ball and are looking pretty. "As long as they come to work every day — and they do — then I don't have a problem with it." Meyers quickly learned after making the switch from quarterback what the other receivers have gotten to know. Keeping up with Louis and Harmon isn't easy, and if a receiver doesn't bring it each day they'll likely get exposed for it. "I just want to match them because it's pretty tough to match their work ethic," Meyers said. "They are always here [at the football facility] or always doing something. "They push me to be even better and make sure I'm not back on the bench or regressing." Louis bragged that he can squat the most, while Harmon said he is the king of the bench press. However, Louis countered that Harmon's bench numbers are only bet- ter because of Louis' past shoulder injuries. Meyers lays claim to being the player who is the most versatile, and he's better than them in another sport. "I can play more positions than they can, and I can play quarterback," Meyers said. "I know Steph played quarterback in high school, and he thinks he still has it. I think I have it better than them. "I'm definitely better [in basketball]. I try to stay off the courts, but if we went back they wouldn't have a shot." When Harmon is asked whether Mey- ers still has a strong right arm, he nods his head in agreement, but the basketball refer- ence is apt in other ways. Meyers hopes to make plays in space in the middle of the field like he's leading a fast break in hoops. "The way I try to get open, I try to take a basketball approach," Meyers said. "I played it when I was younger, so when I get up on a man, I try to cross him up." Meyers' most famous "cross him up" was against first-round NFL Draft choice Derwin James, a former safety for Florida State. Meyers deked him in the open field en route to a 71-yard touchdown in a 27-21 Wolfpack win at FSU last season. "It's been a minute [since watching the replay], and I try to let it live in the past," Meyers said. "People always send it me and say we need more of this for this season." McDonald put a plan in place when he arrived in 2015, and now the Wolfpack is effectively carrying out his vision with one of the top receiver trios in school history.
