He got the dual jobs anyway, coaching the freshman basketball team, serving as an assistant for the varsity squad and spending the spring in the dugout as head coach of the baseball team. Whenever people were confused about Es- posito's role in the Wolfpack athletic depart- ment, he told them bluntly: "If the basketball team is winning, I'm a basketball coach.
