120 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING Pack hosted Georgia State Sept. 8 and re- ceived his offer that day. "They put a lot of D-linemen in the league," Murphy said about NC State. "That is what caught my interest." In his first four games as a junior, Mur- phy had 14 tackles, seven tackles for loss and four sacks. He is rated a three-star recruit and the No. 12 player in the state. WIDE RECEIVER PORTER ROOKS Charlotte Providence Day With wideout expected to be a major pri- ority in the 2020 class, Rooks has emerged as one of the top prospects on the board at outside receiver. The 6-2, 180-pounder was at NC State's home win over Virginia, about two months after visiting Raleigh for the Alpha Wolf Showcase in July. Head coach Dave Doeren used his first fall visit to watch Rooks and Providence Day play at New London (N.C.) North Stanly High Sept. 7. Landing Rooks would be a significant addition. He is rated as a four-star talent, the top junior in the state, and the No. 9 wide receiver and No. 41 overall player in the nation by Rivals.com. His who's who offer list includes Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State, among many others.
