Who is your favorite NBA player? Russell Westbrook. Who is your favorite NBA team? Lakers. I was a Kobe [Bryant] guy. What is your guilty pleasure TV program? "Scandal." Who is your favorite athlete at NC State that is not a basketball player? It was J-Sam [former football player Jaylen Samuels] because he's from Charlotte. I played basketball against him when I was younger. I have been into volleyball lately. Did you play close attention to your rankings in high school? I think we all did. What is the toughest road venue you have played in? Cameron Indoor. If you could try a different college sport what would it be? Baseball, football and track. What's a long-term promise you have made to your family? Do everything in my power to be the man they raised me to be. Would you wear your NC State jersey in a social setting? Absolutely, if you are not building your own brand you're building somebody else's. PHOTO BY KEN MARTIN Analysis: Dorn fits head coach Kevin Keatts' system well because he is athletic and a strong rebounder for a wing. After struggling in ACC play during his first season with the Wolfpack, he averaged 13.6 points per contest last winter in league action. Dorn tested the NBA Draft process in the spring, but elected to return for his final season of eligibility. He will be NC State's leader this fall and has a chance to emerge as an all-conference performer. Career Highlights: Scored in double figures in 22 games last season, including matching his career high with 26 points against Bryant … Set a new personal best of 17 rebounds to go with 22 points versus UMKC … Finished with four double- doubles, including 18 points and 12 rebounds in the NCAA Tournament against Seton Hall … In his first season at NC State, started 18 games and had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds in his debut … Had three double-doubles, including 14 points and 11 boards at Wake Forest … Named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2014-15 for Charlotte … Led Charlotte and all Conference USA freshmen in scoring (12.0 points per game) … Had career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds against Western Kentucky, his lone double-double that season … Averaged 21.6 points, 5.6 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game as a senior at Charlotte's Vance High School and was named his conference MVP … Selected to play in the North Carolina High School Coaches' Association East-West All- Star Game in 2014. Personal: His father, Torin Dorn Sr., played football at UNC and then seven seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Raiders and St. Louis Rams … His younger brother Myles Dorn is a starting safety at UNC in football.
