Mission Statement The Virginia Athletics Foundation, through its fundraising efforts, strives to support a preeminent intercollegiate athletics program at the University of Virginia by providing student- athletes the opportunity to achieve academic and athletic excellence. Virginia Athletics Foundation P.O. Box 400833 Charlottesville, VA 22904-4833 (434) 982-5555 | (800) 626-8723 (434) 982-5025 FAX www.VirginiaAthleticsFoundation.com Dear Cavalier Fans, The summer months on Grounds have been busy for student-athletes with summer courses, camps and training with their respective teams. It won't be long before the fall seasons begin and we embark on the 2019-2020 academic year. At the Foundation, we continue to focus on im- proving the student-athlete experience and interact- ing with as many donors as possible who passion- ately support our programs. Funding scholarships through our Annual Fund and endowment, a top priority, is how most donors participate in supporting the student-athlete experience. The Annual Fund achieved a milestone of $15 million within the first six months of 2019. This accomplishment has not been achieved since 2008, and we are extremely grateful for the support from so many donors. However, we need to increase our pace for the remainder of this year to reach our $19 mil- lion goal. Over 7,400 donors have already made a pledge for the year with 27% (2,018 donors) increasing their pledge by 10% or more over last year. This level of increase continues to be an impressive percentage of the donor base. There is always an opportunity for those who have not increased their pledge to do so by the end of the year. We hope you are enjoying the video series "Here We Go," which features progress on the Athletics Master Plan and highlights different components within the project. Our staff is hard at work meeting with donors each month to encourage financial support for these new facilities that will dramatically enhance the experience for each of our student-athletes. With the demolition of University Hall, Onesty Hall and the Cage, the next step is to clear the site and prepare for the creation of the two grass practice fields for the football program. Fundraising must reach the $25 million mark by February 2020 in order to move into construction of Phase I which includes these practice fields. This will be a needed enhancement for the football program, providing dedicated grass practice fields for the first time in many years. As our student-athletes and coaches prepare for another year, the competi- tion in the ACC and nationally continues to be fierce. In August, we welcome a new class of student-athletes and start another exciting season for the Cava- liers. Your support directly impacts the success of our programs and experi- ence of our student-athletes. Along the way we get to celebrate their success in the classroom and in athletic competition, creating lifetime memories for our student-athletes and fans. Thank you for your continued support.
