30 CAVALIER CORNER & VAF NEWS NOTABLES All of us at VAF were excited to hit the road again for the 2023 VAF Spring Social Tour. We coordinated seven socials throughout Virginia and one out-of-state event welcoming VAF donors, student-athlete alumni, and fans to mingle with coaches and learn updates on Virginia athletics. Featured head coaches included Dean and Markel Families Men's Head Basketball Coach Tony Ben- nett, The Fralin Family Head Foot- ball Coach Tony Elliott and Head Women's Basketball Coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton. Other coach representatives included Alysiah Bond from women's basketball, Larry Mangino, Brad Soderberg and Orlando Vandross from men's basketball and Chris Slade from football. John Freeman, Voice of the Cavaliers, served as the program emcee and various VAF directors shared updates and introductions. More than 1,100 donors, alumni, and fans attended Socials while sev- eral of the events were sold out with long waitlists. Events included VIP pre-event gatherings, Social hour with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and speaking programs with audience Q&A. Door prizes concluded each evening highlighted by autographed items and tickets to Virginia games. A special thank you to the donors who hosted some of our events — Marcia and Marvin Gilliam Jr. in Bristol, Va., Tricia and Charles McDaniel in Fredericksburg, Va., Dean and Anne Carter Smith and Ann and Wellford Tabor in Char- lotte, N.C., and Lindsay and Coley Wortham III in Richmond, Va.
