means they get to practice, train and compete in facilities that are as good as anybody has in America." Certainly the work at venues such as Michigan Stadium, Crisler Center and Yost caught everyone's attention. Those who thought the heavy lifting ended there found out differently in no time. Those driving down State Street toward the campus can't miss the Schembechler Hall renovation, involving tearing off the exterior toward the street and parking lot in prepa- ration for major changes inside. The $9 million project is going to eventually feature a brick and glass exterior, updated museum space, an area for pro scouts, a media interview room, a new recruiting lounge and more. Glass footballs representing all 134 seasons of Michigan football will rise through both stories of the building in one section. In all, Schembechler Hall will add 7,000 square feet of space. U-M officials have targeted the project for completion in time for the 2014 spring game. According to Rob Construction is underway on a new building for the softball program, one that will include locker rooms, offices, a meeting room and a Hall of Fame section. photo courtesy michigan athletic media relations
