Under the Dome Top of The Class Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Mandy Laddish — Sr., Women's Soccer One of the first preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference selections in Notre Dame history, Laddish made the list of Irish soccer players expected to shine during the team's debut season in the ACC. The senior midfielder scored one goal and four assists while holding down the defensive side of the field in 2012. She was a team captain a year ago and will likely be a leader for Notre Dame again in her final season. Tyler Wingo — Jr., Men's Golf The Fairfax, Va., native shot a 2-over-par 72 in the opening round of the U.S. Amateur Championship during the second week of July. He is one of two Notre Dame golfers, along with senior teammate Andrew Lane, to qualify for the annual USGA event. Wingo played in eight tournaments for the Irish as a sophomore and averaged a score of 75.29 per round. He was the 39th-ranked prospect in the country coming out of high school. Melissa Scott — Jr., Women's Swimming The Irish butterfly stroke specialist was one of three Notre Dame swimmers to earn a spot at the 2013 U.S. Open this summer. She finished 54th overall in the butterfly competition July 30. Scott was a finalist in the 200-meter fly at last season's Big East Championships. Teammates Emma Reaney (five events) and Kelly Ryan (three events) also competed at the U.S. Open during the first week of August. Greg Andrews — Sr., Men's Tennis Notre Dame's No. 1 singles player kept his successful junior season rolling into the offseason on the ITA Summer Circuit. Andrews won all six of his singles matches at one of the circuit's events in South Bend in late July. He also partnered with Irish teammate Nicolas Montoya to take the doubles crown at the same event. As a junior, Andrews was one of two Notre Dame student-athletes to make the Capitol One Academic All-America first team.
