"I took a thermodynamics course, and that was very cool," he said. "We looked
at different engines and how they react to air pressure and different substances. That was very challenging, but really interesting."
The fall has been a new kind of test for Jocz. Last year at this time, he was
taking prerequisite classes and hadn't yet begun with his engineering assignments.
It's difficult to juggle football and engineering, but Jocz is getting it done.
"You have to stick to it, plan out everything, be diligent and focus on what
you have to do next," he said. "With the resources here, it helps out a lot. The
classes are challenging.
"I'm trying to space the classes out between fall and winter, to make sure I'm
not overloading. Especially during the fall, because of football. I might even
take one in the spring or the summer. I have five or six years to complete my
goal, so I want to take my time and do it right."
Jocz's plan is to leave Ann Arbor with an undergraduate and a master's degree
in mechanical engineering.
"There are a lot of different things I could do once I'm done with school," Jocz
said. "The good thing is, there is a high demand for engineers, and they will
always be in demand. There's not a specific area I want to go into right now,
but I will have a lot of choices."
