The U-M coaches continue to evaluate juniors in search of their first 2015 pledge. Duncanville, Texas, four-star Matt McQuaid has connections to the state. His father, Rob, is from Mid- land, Mich., and his grandparents still live there. "He is kind of waiting to see what they do," said Rob McQuaid, a former Central Michigan product. "Coach [John] Beilein mentioned he would come back down and wanted to see him another time, maybe the April 21 week. If not, he's going to see him in Sacramento in a few weeks during an AAU event, which is the only period for college coaches to evaluate and see kids." Beilein only saw McQuaid once last year, and it wasn't the 6-5 shoot- ing guard's best game. "He was face guarded the whole time and had a hard time getting his shot," Rob McQuaid recalled. "In that one game, Coach Beilein didn't see a whole lot." Texas, Stanford, Creighton, South- ern Methodist and Gonzaga have of- fered McQuaid, Rivals.com's No. 75 junior nationally. U-M assistant Ba- cari Alexander has been his lead re- cruiter for the last few months. "He's waiting to see what the inter- est is, see what Coach Beilein thinks and if Michigan is going to offer him or not," his father said.
