"He is a great back-to-basket player," Herting said. "He is strong, likes contact and is smart. He prob- ably goes better left than right, but there is really no move that he has going left that he can't do going right. He is patient on the block, and he can kick it out really easily. He is really polished with his back to the basket." A back-to-the-basket big man is not necessarily a staple of Michigan head coach John Beilein's offense, but both Doyle and Herting believe the center can transition easily into the Wolver- ines' system. "I do play with my back to the bas- ket, but they think I can really expand my game, and like how I can pick and pop or roll," Doyle said. "They really think my versatility can help the of- fense move. We have a lot of great players coming in, but the offense is a pass-first offense. If you see an open guy, you hit him." When Doyle came to Ann Arbor for a game in 2013, he knew almost instantly that Michigan was the right place for him. "I was expecting it to be great, but it was more than I expected," Doyle said. "It was amazing. That was my first time at Michigan, and the game was jaw dropping. The fans are so crazy — I'd never seen anything like it. I'd taken an unofficial to Miami, and they have a great school there, but Michigan just felt right for me." And there will be plenty of oppor- tunity for Doyle to make an impact immediately.
