2014 BASKETBALL RECRUITING ISSUE BY ANDY REID Every four years, college basketball teams are allowed to take an overseas trip and play amateur- and semi-pro- fessional teams. The four-year win- dow is up for the Wolverines, who will be heading to Europe in August, along with their six incoming fresh- men. At least one player's family will be in attendance. Ricky Doyle, who has dual citizen- ship in America and France after his father, Richard, played more than 10 years of professional basketball in France, will have his parents in the stands when he suits up for the Wol- verines in Italy and other countries this summer. Doyle just capped a wildly success- ful career at Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers, Fla., setting career pro- gram records for points (1,623) and rebounds (775). He was a first-team all-state selection by the Florida As- sociation of Basketball Coaches as a sophomore and senior, missing out on the honor as a junior because he missed 20 games with a foot injury. "I know his family pretty well, and I remember seeing him play as a kid," Bishop Verot coach Matt Herting said. "The summer before his fresh- man year, he started working with our high school team. It wasn't hard to figure out that he was going to be a really good player." Doyle (6-9, 255 pounds) is listed as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, but, according to Herting, Doyle had scholarship offers from ACC cham- pion Virginia, Big East champion Ricky Doyle Sees A Big Opportunity At Michigan Doyle set career program records for points (1,623) and rebounds (775) at Fort Myers (Fla.)
