MICHIGAN FOOTBALL guys," Gallon said on his conference call. "They're a team-oriented foot- ball team. They seem to just keep producing smaller guys that work in smaller spaces against big people. "I just felt like it would be a good fit here as far myself and how I play and what I can bring and what they have for me to bring to the table." Both SI.com (No. 18 overall) and CBSSports.com (No. 28) have the 6-5, 235-pound Funchess going in the first round next season. "Entering his junior season, it's too early to put a 'round grade' on Funchess, but if he takes the next step in his development in 2014, then it's not a stretch to think he'll be viewed highly by NFL scouts," NFLDraftS- cout.com analyst Dane Brugler wrote in an email exchange with The Wol- verine. "Big pass-catching athletes like Eric Ebron and Kelvin Benja- min were first-rounders [in the 2014 draft] and Funchess has that type of potential, but his development in 2014 is key to him making that even- tual jump to the NFL game." The author of the CBS article, Brugler was impressed with Funch- ess' physical talents on display in 2012-13. "The natural athleticism is clear and he looks the part with the size/ speed combo to be a mismatch night- mare," he said.
