2014 BASKETBALL RECRUITING ISSUE to think about after following up a trip to Ann Arbor with a campus visit to Dayton in late April. He had to lean heavily on both of his parents for advice when it came time to decide. "They really just wanted me to pick what I thought was the best spot for me," he recalled. "They both liked Dayton and Michigan, but they wanted me to make the decision, what I was happy with. It was a tough deci- sion, but all in all Michigan was the right fit." The academics played a huge part, he said, as did the relationship be- tween the staff and the players. He received the players' perspective from rising junior shooting guard Caris LeVert, a late bloomer himself who earned an offer after his senior year of high school. Dawkins enjoyed every- thing about his trip. "Dayton was great, an awesome campus and great people," he said. "I really enjoyed both schools a lot and had a great time both places, but the facilities at Michigan, everything was great. They have top-notch facilities, and the campus is great." The staff, too, made him feel at home. "You can tell they are very close," he said. "They work well together, and you can tell they're smart guys. They showed me film and told me I could be like Tim Hardaway Jr. or a Glenn Rob- inson III on the wing, that they think I have some of the same skill set." Dawkins describes his game as "good at a lot of things, not great at any one thing." He continues to work on his shot, but has many of the traits head coach John Beilein is looking for
