2014 BASKETBALL RECRUITING ISSUE in that he's smart with a high IQ and plenty of athleticism. He's in the gym every day with the expectation to live up to the names on the jersey, both Michigan and his father's. "I was just looking for more expo- sure after my senior year of high school because I only had one offer," he said. "I wasn't necessarily trying to be high or mid-major, just improve. I'm grate- ful that coaches could see my skill and appreciate the hard work I put in. I'm just glad Michigan recognized it, too." But he's still got plenty to prove, and he knows it. It's that chip on his shoul- der that might just give him the extra boost he needs to become the latest underrated prep to blossom in Ann Arbor. ❏ AUBREY DAWKINS Small Forward • 6-6 · 195 New Hampton Prep New Hampton, N.H. They Said It Assistant Coach Bacari Alexander: "His maturation is compelling, and so are his demeanor and approach. He's got great leadership qualities and a very good work ethic. Those types of attributes can set you up to contribute as a freshman. He was advertised at 6-4 but comes on our campus at 6-6 as a potential high-level wing. He played with our guys, and the feedback was so positive in terms of some of his gifts." Rivals.com Analyst Eric Bossi: "He's a nice, solid all-around player. I'd call him a utility wing in that I don't know that there's one area where you'd say, 'Oh, wow! That's where he's really dominant.' He just has a solid all-around game. He still needs to get stronger and improve off the dribble a bit, but he has done a good job becoming a much better shooter and incorporating his athleti- cism into his game."
