FOOTBALL RECRUITING was more accurate than ever at the Rivals Camp Series in Columbus, Ohio, and the Underclassmen Challenge in Jacksonville, Fla., along with the Michigan summer camp. With the improvements he's made in the offseason, and the weapons he's likely to have lined up with him, De- Weaver has a chance to put up very nice stats during his junior year. If he lives up to that potential, a climb in the rankings is possible. OL ERIK SWENSON 6-5, 300 • Downers Grove (Ill.) South Four-star prospect, and No. 9 offensive tackle and No. 70 overall player in the nation Swenson made an extremely early commitment to Mich- igan — before the end of his sophomore season — but by the time he pledged he had already picked up offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State and Virginia Tech, among others. It was no surprise when he debuted with a Rivals100 ap- pearance. During his sophomore year, Swenson helped his Down- ers Grove South team to a 6-4 record, including a first- round playoff loss to eventual Class 8A (the largest divi- sion in Illinois) state champion Naperville Central. In the time since, he has participated in the Rivals Camp Series in Chicago, as well as a single-day appearance at Michigan's Wolverine Technique School. He has shown that he's a "gamer" with outstanding toughness when the pads come on in live action. Swenson's rankings can improve if he continues grow- ing — he's right on the border of what college coaches like in a true blindside tackle at 6-5 — and continues to im- prove his technique against the pass rush. He already has a nasty disposition on the field and can move the pile in the run game. Using those attributes to improve his team's 2014 outlook will boost his notoriety. ❏ On The Web For regular reports on football recruiting, plus videos of all the top prospects in the nation and Michigan's commitments, visit TheWolverine.com.
