I
t isn't often that a player can
win a Super Bowl with one
team, leave and feel like he has
landed in a better situation,
but that's exactly what Golden
Tate will tell you.
The former Notre Dame wide
receiver (2007‑09) spent his
first four professional seasons
with the Seattle Seahawks after
the organization selected him
in the second round of the 2010
NFL Draft.
Tate improved in each of his
four seasons and seemed to
mirror the team's growth as
well. Last February, his career
in Seattle culminated with a
Super Bowl triumph over the
Denver Broncos.
In free agency, Tate felt like
the only organization he ever
knew did not make much of an
effort to bring him back to the
defending champions, calling
their only offer "laughable." It
didn't take long for the Detroit
Lions to sign him to a five‑year,
$25 million contract.
"The offense is kind of a
feel offense. You feel your
way around," Tate told Sports
Illustrated. "Obviously there
are rules and depths, but at
the end of the day you've got

Tate has settled in with the Detroit Lions, hauling in a season-
high eight receptions for 116 yards in a 24-17 win over the
New York Jets Sept. 28.
