As a first-year starter in 2012, trips to Oklahoma and USC showed his com- posure in hostile environments. In a dramatic come-from-behind, triple- overtime win against Pittsburgh, Gol- son led a game-tying drive in the final minutes — but not until Notre Dame's 17-14 win against Stanford Oct. 4 did he do so against an elite defense like the Cardinal's.
