IRISH IN THE PROS BY ANDREW OWENS I t isn't often that a player can win a Super Bowl with one team, leave and feel like he has landed in a better situation, but that's exactly what Golden Tate will tell you. The former Notre Dame wide receiver (2007‑09) spent his first four professional seasons with the Seattle Seahawks after the organization selected him in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Tate improved in each of his four seasons and seemed to mirror the team's growth as well. Last February, his career in Seattle culminated with a Super Bowl triumph over the Denver Broncos. In free agency, Tate felt like the only organization he ever knew did not make much of an effort to bring him back to the defending champions, calling their only offer "laughable." It didn't take long for the Detroit Lions to sign him to a five‑year, $25 million contract. "The offense is kind of a feel offense. You feel your way around," Tate told Sports Illustrated. "Obviously there are rules and depths, but at the end of the day you've got Super Bowl Champion Golden Tate Adjusts To New Surroundings Tate has settled in with the Detroit Lions, hauling in a season- high eight receptions for 116 yards in a 24-17 win over the New York Jets Sept. 28.
