FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY TOM LOY B lue & Gold Illustrated takes an in- depth look at where things stand with the top Irish targets remaining on the board and sheds some light on who Notre Dame's main competition is with each prospect. ASMAR BILAL, LB 6-3, 215, Indianapolis (Ben Davis) 247Sports Rankings: Four-star prospect, No. 168 overall player in the country, No. 3 inside linebacker in the land and No. 2 re- cruit in Indiana. The Skinny: It's Notre Dame or Michigan for the U.S. Army All-American linebacker. Early on in his recruitment it looked like the Irish had the edge, then momentum swung back in favor of the Wolver- ines. Sources close to the situation believe that Notre Dame has pulled back in front, and the Irish are the favorite to land Bilal. NICK BROSSETTE, RB 6-0, 215, Baton Rouge, La. (University Lab) 247Sports Rankings: Four-star player, No. 175 overall recruit in the nation, No. 17 running back in the country and No. 10 prospect in Louisiana. The Skinny: The talented running back has been committed to LSU since August 2013. However, it looks like a few schools are get- ting back in the mix for the Under Armour All-American. Notre Dame, Texas and Mis- sissippi State look to be the Tigers biggest competition at this point. The Irish will get a crack at Brossette when he comes to South Bend for an official visit Oct. 11. FRANK BUNCOM IV, CB 6-1, 190, San Diego (St. Augustine) 247Sports Rankings: Four-star recruit, No. 116 overall player nationally, No. 11 cor- nerback in the country and No. 16 prospect in California. The Skinny: Accord- ing to sources close to Buncom's recruitment, Notre Dame could have landed a commitment or at least been consid- ered the favorite for the West Coast standout, had the Irish offered ear- lier. Buncom landed an offer from Notre Dame Sept. 19 and immedi- ately elevated the Irish into his top group. Stanford appears to be the leader at this point, but Notre Dame will give Buncom a lot to think about over the coming months leading up Irish Zero In On Top Remaining Targets For 2015 Class
