1-28 Record of teams that were minus‑four in turnovers in a game against a team from a power five confer‑ ence the last two seasons, per ESPN.com. That 96.6‑percent failure rate was noted after Notre Dame defeated Syracuse 31‑15 Sept. 27 despite being minus‑four in turnovers — five by the Irish and only one by the Orange. 3 All three Fighting Irish football opponents in October have athletics directors who worked at and/or graduated from Notre Dame. Stanford's Bernard Muir worked at Notre Dame from 2000‑05. North Carolina's Lawrence "Bubba" Cunningham, a 1984 Notre Dame grad, was in the Irish athletics department from 1988‑2002 — and was the AD at Tulsa when the Golden Hurricane stunned Notre Dame in 2010 (28‑27). Finally, Florida State's Stan Wilcox was a guard on the 1977‑81 powerhouse Notre Dame basketball teams before becoming the Seminoles' director of athletics in August 2013. He also honed his adminis‑ trative career at Notre Dame from 2005‑07. 5 Former Notre Dame offensive tackle and two‑time captain Zack Martin (2010‑13) was recently re‑evaluated after the first month of the season by NFL.com's Gil Brandt as the No. 5 player in his "Draft Do‑Over." Martin was taken No. 16 overall by the Dallas Cowboys last spring, but has made an immediate strong impression as a starter at guard. Said Brandt: "I thought he was a really good player coming out of Notre Dame, but he has exceeded expectations. His pass protection is excellent, and his presence on the interior of the Cowboys' offensive line has helped them lead the league in rushing at 165.0 yards per game." 11-0 Notre Dame's home record against Oct. 11 oppo‑ nent North Carolina, most recently a 45‑26 victory in 2006. The Tar Heels are the lone school to play in Notre Dame Stadium at least 10 times without having ever recorded a win. The only other school that comes close to that futility is Indiana, which is 0‑9 in Notre Dame Stadium. The Irish are 19‑2 overall versus the Tar Heels, but lost the most recent meeting (29‑24) at Chapel Hill in 2009.
