Robinson have come along. The 6‑4½ receiver was almost exclusively used as a jump‑ball target as a freshman, but that has changed in year two. Against the Orange, he recorded eight receptions — one fewer than all of 2013 — for 91 yards, eight short of his total through the first three games. Most of those were on swing passes and screens in the horizontal passing game. "Everybody has the sense that Co‑ rey is this big target that's rangy, that you just throw it up to him. We did that tonight and he scored a touch‑ down," head coach Brian Kelly said of Robinson's eight‑yard touchdown grab in the second quarter. "He caught [seven] passes on the perim‑ eter where he had to turn back that big body, catch it, with a cast on, and then run after the catch in traffic. That says a lot about his development as a complete wide receiver." That cast Kelly refers to is on Rob‑ inson's right hand, stemming from a broken thumb that required a pro‑ cedure to insert a pin. Robinson suf‑ fered the injury in a practice the week before the season started, though even he doesn't know the exact time it occurred. He didn't know he broke it until later. After struggling with the injury in the season opener — he saw action on only 17 of 64 offensive snaps — he entered October second on the team with 13 receptions, which have gone for 190 yards and two touchdowns.
