ND SPORTS Sophomore Blake Barens was the top finisher for Notre Dame, placing in a three-way tied for 43rd with an 11-over-par 227 (77-76-74). Junior Cory Sciupider and sophomore Matthew Rushton (12-over 228) finished in a three-way tie for 46th. WOMEN'S GOLF The Irish finished eighth with a 30-over-par par score of 894 (302-293-299) at the NCAA Regional May 7-9 in South Bend, missing a bid to the NCAA Championships by just six strokes. It was the program's best NCAA Regional finish since a fifth-place effort in 2011. Junior Talia Campbell (77-73-71) and sophomore Jordan Ferreira (73-72-76) both led the Irish, tying for 19th with a five-over 221. Campbell carded a 73.43 stroke average this year, the second-lowest individual mark in program history. SOFTBALL (37-11, 16-5 ACC) Hosting an NCAA Regional for just the second time in program history, No. 21 Notre Dame fell short of advancing to the Super Regionals. The Irish dropped a 6-3 decision to Ball State in their opening contest May 15, before defeating both Northwestern 14-5 and Ball State 15-4 May 16. Notre Dame took a 3-2 lead over Kentucky into the seventh inning of an elimination game May 17, only to see the Cats score two runs in the top of the inning to take a 4-3 lead. Jenna Simon singled to open the bottom of the seventh and stole second base, but three straight Irish outs prevented her from reaching home to send the game into extra innings. ROWING The No. 19 Irish competed in the Dale England Cup April 24-25 in Bloomington, Ind., winning four races but finishing third overall. Their 42 points trailed both No. 12 Texas (63) and No. 11 Indiana (57). The team then placed second at the ACC Championships with 82 points, trailing only Virginia (99). Notre Dame was projected to receive an invitation on May 19 to the NCAA Championships. Senior Anna Kottkamp was named Valedictorian of Notre Dame's entire 2015 graduating class and presented her address during the commencement ceremony May 17 at Notre Dame Stadium. WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD Despite injuries to junior Danielle Aragon, senior Kaila Barber and junior Sydni Meunier, the No. 23 Irish still came away with three first-place finishes at the ACC Outdoor Championships May 14-16 in Tallahas- see, Fla., to finish fifth (72 points) as a team. Junior Molly Seidel won the 5,000 meters in 16:07.87, senior Jade Barber won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.13 seconds, and the 4x400 relay of Parker English, Amber Lalla, Jordan Shead and Margaret Bamgbose brought home the title in 3:31.17. MEN'S TRACK & FIELD Notre Dame placed ninth at the ACC Outdoor Championships May 14-16 in Tallahassee, Fla., with 37 total points. Senior Chris Giesting led the way with a second-place finish in the 400 meters (45.812 sec- onds) and fifth-place showing in the 200 meters (21.01 seconds). — Jordan Wells
