Getting To Know … SOPHOMORE INFIELDER KYLE FIALA QB Transfers Of Power Most of the two-dozen or so quarterbacks who transferred from Notre Dame over the past 40 years did not flourish or had so-so careers at other schools. This year, Gunner Kiel at Cincin- nati and Everett Golson at Flor- ida State could prosper with two of the best seasons ever by for- mer Irish signal-callers at other schools. Here are five of the best standards from the past 50 years. 1. Jake Kelchner (West Virginia, 1991-93) At Notre Dame: Kelchner enrolled in 1989 with the nation's No. 1 QB pros- pect, Rick Mirer. Academic problems and a severe shoulder injury in the 1990 spring game led to his transfer to West Virginia.
