Te'von Coney, Shreveport (La.) Evan- gel Christian lineman Jerry Tillery, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman tight end Aliz'e Jones and Pocatello (Idaho) Highland center Tristen Hoge. Wimbush was the highest ranked of all the signees, with Rivals slotting him as the No. 60 overall player nationally, the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the country and No. 2 player in New Jersey. Coney enrolled in the school early, and judging by his performance in the spring will contend for action this fall. Tillery also enrolled early and was a standout this spring, consis- tently taking reps with the first team at defensive tackle. Jones is expected to contend for playing time from day one at tight end, and Hoge (nephew of Merril Hoge, current ESPN analyst and former NFL running back) joined Coney and Tillery as early enrollees who played this spring. "When we recruit, we don't recruit Top Five Female Athletes 1. Molly Seidel, Track & Field — Seidel earned first-team All-America honors in both cross country and indoor track in the 5,000 meters, before winning the 10,000 meters national title at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. The victory was the first individual national title in program history. Seidel also won ACC titles in the indoor 3,000 meters, indoor 5,000 meters and outdoor 5,000 meters. 2. Jewell Loyd, Basketball — Her decision to leave Notre Dame early was a shock to the program, but Loyd was magnifi- cent in her junior campaign. Her 19.8 points per game helped the Irish to a national runner-up finish, and she earned con- sensus first-team All-America honors in the process. Loyd was selected No. 1 overall in the WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. 3. Lee Kiefer, Fencing — The junior earned her third individ- ual national title this year at the NCAA Championships, helping the team finish third behind Columbia and Penn State. She's won a gold medal at six consecutive Pan American Games, and was ranked No. 3 in the world for the women's senior foil division as of May 5. 4. Emma Reaney, Swimming — If this was a career award list, Reaney might be at the top after setting the American record in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:04.06). This year, she "merely" earned All-America honors with a fourth-place finish (2:07.10) at the NCAA Championships in the same event. The senior earned 13 All-America distinctions in her time at Notre Dame, making her the most decorated swimmer in school history. 5. Barbara Sullivan, Lacrosse — Sullivan was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award — given to the most valuable player nationally — this season after earning ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors. She set a school record by controlling 85 draws on the season, in addition to forcing 36 turnovers — by far the most in the ACC. — Jordan Wells Junior Molly Seidel had an extraor- dinary year, capped by winning the NCAA title in the 10,000 meters, the first individual track title in program history .
