he last time two Notre Dame play-
ers were selected in the same NBA
Draft, the Fighting Irish football team
coached by Lou Holtz was fresh off a
10-3 season, punctuated with a 39-28
upset win over No. 3 Florida in the
Sugar Bowl. Duke forward Christian
Laettner was named College Basket-
ball's Player of the Year, and a 16-year-
old golfer by the name of Tiger Woods
competed in the Nissan Los Angeles
Open — his first ever PGA Tour event.
The year? 1992, and the Notre Dame
draftees were power forward La-
Phonso Ellis and point guard Elmer
Bennett.
This June, that record was matched
after point guard Jerian Grant and
guard/forward Pat Connaughton
were selected in the 2015 NBA Draft,
held at the Barclays Center in Brook-
lyn.
Grant was chosen in the first round
with the No. 19 overall selection by

After being drafted with the 19th overall pick in the first round by the Washington Wizards, Jerian Grant
was first traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then the New York Knicks.
