up to be honest." Boudreaux's decision to commit to the Irish didn't come as much of a sur- prise to Hiestand and the rest of the coaching staff, but that didn't mean it was easy to get the big fish in the boat. Aside from the number of vis- its to high-profile programs like Ala- bama and Auburn, both Clemson and Oklahoma led at one point during the recruiting process. Other schools like Florida and Georgia Southern were in the mix down the stretch. "I think Clemson was definitely in the lead for a solid six months," Park- er's father, Justin, said. "I think the sec- ond time after we went to Clemson for a visit, I thought he was about to com- mit, but he never did." What turned out to be a loss for the Tigers was more than just some gain for Notre Dame. Boudreaux, who is ranked by Rivals. com as the No. 25 offensive tackle in the country, projects as a guard at the next level. He posted a Nike Football SPARQ Rating of 112.62 at The Opening in July, which was the highest number for an offensive lineman at the event in three years for the test that measures overall athletic ability. When asked if he expected to have such a high number, Boudreaux hesi- tated, and then admitted he thought it was a possibility, especially after pull- ing a school bus. "I had been training for it, running shuttles and stuff, but I didn't think it would be something like that," he said with a laugh. Boudreaux was a Class 5-A all-state second-team selection as a junior. He was named to the Orlando Sentinel's All- Central Florida offense. ✦ 1-800-421-7751 • www.BlueGoldOnline.com Notre Dame "Eglomise" Framed Print $59.95 FREE S&H* Notre Dame "Eglomise" style digital photos reproduce the transparency effect of an image reverse-painted on glass.
