The 6-1, 180-pound Stepherson played his junior season behind two wide receivers that signed Division I football scholarships, but still managed to catch 33 passes for 756 yards and 11 touchdowns on a team that went 14-1 and lost in the Class 8A regional finals. "He's got long legs, and he's a long strider," Rivals.com analyst Rob Cas- sidy said. "He uses that to his advan- tage, and he's deceptively fast. He has a nice little change of pace over the middle and is a really reliable target in traffic. He might not run the best routes and might not be polished, but the raw tools are there and certainly the speed." Stepherson was named the wide re- ceiver MVP of the Orlando, Fla., Rivals Speed & Skill Challenge in early March. He also held offers from LSU, North Carolina, Colorado, Michigan and West Virginia. Stepherson admitted that what stood out about the Irish was the total package. "My parents really like Notre Dame because of the education that it can provide for me," he said. "When I got up there and saw the campus, it was just amazing. That's what hit me, and then I got to know the coaching staff and players, and I saw that I could be around those guys everyday. I just liked how everything works up there, and I just had to pull the trigger." Stepherson never made it to LSU, cancelling the trip. The three-star prospect is ranked by Rivals as the No. 62 wide receiver in the country and the No. 86 prospect in the state of Florida. He's on track to gradu- ate early and enroll in January at Notre Dame. ✦ "Man Cave" ND Mats Available in four sizes!
