FOOTBALL RECRUITING the quick pass game, thanks to his ability to get off the line and turn a short throw into a big play. The Californian is also a weapon in the run game, where he can use his speed and vision to attack the perimeter and burst through open lanes for long gains. His combination of smooth running and speed makes him a dynamic kick returner. He needs to work on refining his route technique and do a better job using his hands to catch the ball. MARQUEZ CALLAWAY Warner Robins, Ga. (Warner Robins H.S.) Measurables: Rivals.com has him listed at 6-2 and 170 pounds. Rankings: Callaway is rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, ESPNU, Scout.com and 247Sports … Ranked as the No. 115 player and No. 21 wide receiver in the land by Rivals.com, and the No. 118 player nationally by 247Sports, which considers him a wide receiver … Graded out as the No. 144 player in the nation by ESPNU as a safety … Scout.com ranks him as the No. 182 player in the country, listing him as an athlete. Statistics/Honors: Hauled in 33 passes for 359 yards and a touchdown during the 2014 season … Named to the All-AAAAA Region 2 second-team as a defensive back … Starter on the Warner Robins hoops team that finished the 2014-15 season with a 25-5 record and advanced to the AAAAA Final Four … Earned second-team AAAAA all-state honors as a basketball player … Nominated to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Recruitment: Visited Notre Dame on June 19 for the Irish Invasion … The Irish made a big impres- sion on Callaway, who said he plans to return for an official visit with his parents … The Irish are among his favorites, along with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. BGI's Take: Callaway is a silky smooth wideout that uses his length and route running ability to make life miserable for defensive backs. The Warner Robins standout possesses excellent ball skills and does a great job catching the ball away from his body. He shows top-level concentration and tracks deep throws well. Callaway is skinny right now and will need to fill out, but he is a tough player despite his lack of girth and strength. His toughness and instincts could allow him to play in the secondary at the next level, if needed. Callaway translates his bas- ketball skills to the gridiron well, showing excellent leaping ability and jump ball skills. If he had better speed he would be ranked even higher. JAVON MCKINLEY Corona, Calif. (Centennial H.S.) Measurables: Measured in at 6-2 and 206 pounds at The Opening Combine in Oakland, Calif. … Posted a vertical jump of 34.7-inches at that event … Timed at a 4.61 in the forty during testing at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. … Put up a strong 4.01 time in the pro-shuttle at the same event. Rankings: Listed as a four-star prospect by Rivals. com, Scout.com and 247Sports … Ranked as the No. 64 player nationally by Scout.com, No. 99 by Rivals. com and No. 108 by 247Sports … Listed as the No. 6 After racking up 97 receptions for 2,059 yards and 22 touchdowns, Corona (Calif.) Centennial pass- catcher Javon McKinley emerged as a top target for the Irish. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
