BASKETBALL RECRUITING THE IRISH PRIORITIZE FORWARD JAVIN DELAURIER Allen might be the high- est ranked big man on the recruiting board, but Charlottesville (Va.) St. Anne's-Belfield four-star forward Javin DeLaurier received the most atten- tion from Notre Dame's staff. At least one repre- sentative from the Irish was in the stands for each of his four games, with Brey at three tilts. Solomon was even spot- ted at the Nike Peach Jam on Friday morning in North Augusta, S.C. — a two-and-a-half hour drive from the adidas event — but drove back to Atlanta that afternoon to watch DeLaurier again. The for- ward also played at Big Shots in Myrtle Beach, S.C., after the adidas tour- nament, and Brey again made his way there to scout the prospect. "Coach Solomon, he's a Virginia guy, so when- ever he texts me he's al- ways like 'We've got to get another Virginia guy out here to South Bend,'" De- Laurier said. "They're great. It was re- ally fun watching them in the tournament last year. Virginia forward Javin DeLaurier, the No. 40 player in the country, received plenty of attention from the Notre Dame coaching staff during the July evaluation period. PHOTO BY KELLY KLINE/ADIDAS
