INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS MAIZE AND BLUE NOTEBOOK BRUNO, HUNTLEY JOIN COON IN ALL-STAR CLASSIC Two more Michigan wrestlers have earned their way into the lineup for the National Wrestling Coaches Association's 50th annual All-Star Classic. Senior Rossi Bruno and graduate student Max Huntley will be partici- pating in the event, at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion in At- lanta Nov. 1. The NWCA All-Star Classic of- ten provides a foreshadowing of the NCAA Championships with a host of the nation's top wrestlers pitted against each other. A 2015 NCAA All-American af- ter finishing eighth, Bruno will square off against Lehigh's Ma- son Beckman at 133 pounds. The two have met just once be- fore with Bruno earning a 7-5 decision at the Southern Scuf- fle last season. However, the U-M grappler enters the year ranked eighth by FloWrestling. org, while Beckman checks in at No. 6. Huntley, a 2015 NCAA All- American after also placing eighth, is in his sixth year of eli- gibility and takes on Duke's Connor Hartman at 197. The two have never met in college competition, but Huntley did knock off Hartmann, 4-1, in freestyle competi- tion at the 2012 University Nationals. Hartman begins the campaign listed at No. 3 in the preseason rankings, while Huntley was fifth. Those two Michigan wrestlers will join junior heavyweight and fellow 2015 All- American Adam Coon, who was previously named to the Classic lineup. Coon, the national runner-up last season, is set to face Virginia Tech's Ty Walz; Coon is ranked second by FloWrestling and Walz third. Michigan checks in at No. 4 in the website's national team rankings after they finished nationals in 11th place last year with five All-Americans. Heavyweight Adam Coon reached the NCAA finals last season and will open his campaign at the NWCA All-Star Classic, along with two U-M team- mates. PHOTO COURTESY MICHIGAN ATHLETIC MEDIA RELATIONS
