BY TIM SULLIVAN M ichigan's coaching staff has 22 commitments in the class of 2016, and the remaining spots are likely to be filled by prospects who have taken — or will take — official visits to Ann Arbor. Through five home games, U-M has hosted 14 play- ers on school-sponsored trips. Some of those players are among the top prospects in the nation. U-M has hosted a quartet of five-stars to date, though none have visited for the same game. Others are simply prospects that U-M wants badly, even if they don't quite bring the same "oomph" in the Rivals.com rankings. Here's a look at the visitors who have made their way to Michigan Sta- dium on officials this fall. OREGON STATE — SEPT. 12 Sachse (Texas) High four-star cor- nerback Jared Mayden and Norco (Calif.) High three-star quarterback commitment Victor Viramontes were the two official visitors for the game against the Beavers. The 6-0, 199-pound Mayden is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 13 senior in Texas, and the No. 9 corner- back and No. 106 overall prospect na- tionally. He pledged to Oregon July 9 at Nike's The Opening, but main- tained that he'd like to take official visits — especially to those schools, like Michigan, that he'd considered finalists but never previously had the chance to see in person — before wrapping up his overall recruitment. "I got to see a lot," he said of his trip to U-M. "I saw all of the campus, and I got to see how amazing the stadium was. "I got to sit down and talk to all of the coaches. They didn't say anything about Oregon, they just talked to me about the good things they have go- ing for them and about how they're trying to turn the program around. I'd have to say they helped their chances." A later trip to Eugene, Ore., ended that dream for the Wolverines, though.
