  BASKETBALL RECRUITING BY CHRIS BALAS H ighland (Utah) American Fork wing and Michigan target Bren- dan Bailey was closing in on a deci- sion following an early October visit to Ann Arbor, and it appeared to be a tough one for him. The 6-7 forward, Rivals.com's No. 47 senior nationally (though he won't enroll anywhere un- til 2018, after a two-year mission), had the Wolverines on his short list with Gonzaga and Marquette following an Oct. 9 weekend visit to the Zags. "The visit to Gonzaga was good," Bailey noted. "They have a great program." American Fork has camped at Gon- zaga over the past few years, so there are some ties there. Michigan, though, has the "full college experience" of great basketball, football and academ- ics. That's been the sell, and his father — former North Carolina State star and NBA player Thurl Bailey — has said that's something he liked about his own collegiate experience. Michigan put its best foot forward during the BYU football weekend Sept. 26, with head coach John Beilein and his staff making an impression. "He was saying how much they want me to come play for their pro- gram, how I'd be a great fit for them," Bailey said of Beilein. "I had a great time up there. We went to the Crisler Center, saw all around the facilities and locker rooms.
