L ast season proved a lost year for John Beilein's basketball team. It began the season with little margin for error and mishaps abounded. The Wolverines lost sophomores Nik Stauskas, Glenn Robinson III and Mitch McGary to the NBA, af- ter seeing fifth-year senior Jordan Morgan graduate and redshirt junior Jon Horford transfer. So much of the team's leadership and early scoring had to fall on starting guards Caris LeVert, a junior, and Derrick Walton, a sophomore. LeVert barely made it to the Big Ten season, while Walton missed the final two-thirds of it. Both suffered foot injuries that took them off the court and swept the Wolverines, 16- 16, out of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five seasons. "It was painful, and it is painful for them, as well," Beilein said of his players.
