The minute Michigan offered Cov-
ington (Ga.) Newton 2017 running
back Kurt Taylor over the summer,
the Maize and Blue became the fa-
vorite to land the three-star prospect.
During a visit to the Barbecue at The
Big House recruiting event at the be-
ginning of August, Taylor heard the
good news from head coach Jim Har-
baugh himself.
"I am very excited that Coach Har-
baugh believed in me and my work
ethic," he said. "I am very blessed
and thank God."
The 5-9, 201-pounder immediately
made plans to return to Ann Arbor
for a couple of games. He attended
the 31-0 win over BYU Sept. 26,
and returned just a few weeks later
for the 27-23 loss to Michigan State
Oct. 17. On the eve of the rivalry
game against the Spartans, Taylor sat
down in a meeting with Harbaugh
and let him know that he'd be joining
the class.
"He was excited when I told him,"
Taylor recalled. "He said, 'Welcome
to The Big House.' I'm just blessed
