2015-16 BASKETBALL PREVIEW BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan has been among the top Big Ten programs over the last five years, even with last year 's in- jury-riddled 16-16 season. Early NBA entries, too, have hurt the upward progression, but the Wolverines could be contenders this season in a tough Big Ten. Here's our five-minute guide of what to look for this year. TOP THREE POTENTIAL BREAKOUT PLAYERS 1. Sophomore guard/wing Aubrey Dawkins: Some would say the 6-6 high- flyer broke out last year, when he shot 43.8 percent from long range during his rookie campaign. Dawkins, though, only averaged 7.0 points per game and had more turnovers (19) than assists (11). The stellar athlete has been the most improved player since last year, accord- ing to head coach John Beilein. If he im- proves like junior wing Zak Irvin did last season, look out. 2. Redshirt sophomore wing Dun- can Robinson: The 6-8 Williams College transfer was an NCAA Division III Final Four All-Tournament Team selection af- ter helping his former school to a 28-5 overall record and a runner-up finish. He shot 45.6 percent from three-point range as a freshman and has since bro- ken all of Nik Stauskas' shooting records in practice. He'll be hard to keep off the floor if he knocks them down when the lights are on. 3. Redshirt freshman forward D.J. Wilson: Wilson only saw action in a 2015-16 BASKETBALL PREVIEW A Primer On Michigan's Outlook Entering The Season RETURNING LEADERS Points: Caris LeVert, 14.9 per game Rebounds: LeVert, 4.9 per game Assists: Spike Albrecht, 3.9 per game Blocks: Ricky Doyle, 12 total Steals: LeVert, 1.78 per game Three-Pointers Made: Zak Irvin, 77 FG Percentage: Ricky Doyle, 61.2 FT Percentage: Albrecht, 91.3 Minutes: Irvin, 1,160
