MICHIGAN IN THE PROS The NBA GLENN ROBINSON III MAY HAVE FOUND HIS NBA HOME Former Michigan forward Glenn Robinson III has bounced around since leaving the program as a sec‑ ond‑round pick in 2014, from Mil‑ waukee to Philadelphia, then to At‑ lanta and now Indiana. He may have found a home in his home state, hav‑ ing played extremely well with the Pacers in the preseason. Robinson scored in double figures in his first four preseason games, making Indiana executive Larry Bird look like a genius in acquiring him. "I've been trying to for a year," Bird told The Indianapolis Star. Since the preseason opener last season, to be exact, when the Min‑ nesota Timberwolves came to In‑ diana and lost by 40. Robinson, the 40th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, notched six points, three re‑ bounds, two assists and a steal in 12 minutes. "He's very impressive to me," Bird said of the 6‑7, 222‑pounder. "He's long, strong and big." Head coach Frank Vogel agreed and sees a bright future for the sec‑ ond‑year player. "Glenn has been a bright spot since signing with us this summer," Vogel said. "He's a prospect that needed development, but he has put himself in the conversation for meaningful minutes this year." Through five preseason contests, Robinson was averaging 11.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per game. He was shooting 56.3 per‑ cent from the field, 53.8 percent from three‑point range and 86.7 percent from the free throw line. Robinson saw most of his play‑ ing time with Philadelphia last year, playing 10 games and averaging 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15.3 min‑ utes per contest. He shot 41.9 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent on three‑pointers. "He sees something he likes in me, and it makes you feel good," Robinson said. "I mean — he's Larry Bird." ❏ In his first five preseason outings with the Indiana Pacers this year, Glenn Robinson III — the 40th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by Minnesota — averaged 11.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per con- test.
