INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS MICHIGAN'S TOP OLYMPIC SPORTS PERFORMERS Sophomore soccer player Ani Sarkisian: The Cresskill, N.J., native became just the 10th Wolverine in program his- tory to record a hat trick — and the first since Nicky Waldeck on Oct. 2, 2014 — netting all three of Michigan's goals in a 3-1 win over Illinois Oct. 11. A midfielder, Sarkisian ranked fifth in the Big Ten and led U-M in goals with seven through Oct. 19. Senior soccer player Colin McAtee: Michigan's lead- ing goal scorer in 2014 (eight goals) has found his scoring groove once again in October, registering four goals and an assist in U-M's first four games in the month, including a pair of tallies in a 3-0 blanking of Duquesne Oct. 13. The San Diego native ranked second on the team with five goals as of Oct. 19. Sophomore golfer Kyle Mueller: Mueller was named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week Oct. 14 following a record- breaking performance at The MacKenzie Invitational Oct. 12-13. He carded a Michigan 54-hole all-time best score of 15-under-par 198. The first Wolverine in school history to fin- ish below 200, he tied a U-M record for a single round with a career-best 7-under 64. Mueller has shot under par in seven of 12 rounds this year and has three straight top-five finishes. Sophomore golfer Emily White: The Saline, Mich., native gave Michigan a clean sweep Oct. 14, earning Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors after winning her first collegiate tour- nament, the Yale Women's Intercollegiate Oct. 9-11. White carded a pair of 1-under tallies (70) in rounds one and three, and finished tied with Clemson's Lauren Stephenson with a final three-round score of 2-under 211. White then captured the title on the second playoff hole. Freshman volleyball player Carly Skjodt: Stepping up in the absence of injured sophomore Caroline Knop (out four matches with an injury), Skjodt recorded 37 kills in leading Michigan to a 3-1 mark against Iowa Oct. 7, Nebraska Oct. 10 (the lone loss), Rutgers Oct. 14 and Maryland Oct. 15. Skjodt, who had 130 terminations this season through Oct. 19, is also a strong defensive player, recording 91 digs.
