2000 — Drew Henson: The most-heralded Michigan recruit ever at quar- terback wound up starting just eight games in a winged helmet. Henson stepped in as a sophomore after missing the first four games with an injury, but proceeded to lead the Wolverines to a Big Ten championship and a 9-3 overall record. He completed 146 of 237 passes (61.6 percent) for 2,146 yards with 18 touchdown tosses and only four interceptions. He also ended well, leading the Wolverines to a 33-11 win over Penn State, a 38-26 victory at Ohio State and a 31-28 triumph over Auburn in the Citrus Bowl. After that, he left Michigan to sign with the New York Yankees. — John Borton Drew Henson threw for 2,146 yards and 18 touchdowns while leading the Wolverines to a Big Ten championship and a 9-3 overall record in his lone season as U-M's starting quarterback.
