2000 — Drew Henson: The most-heralded Michigan recruit ever at quar-
terback wound up starting just eight games in a winged helmet. Henson
stepped in as a sophomore after missing the first four games with an injury,
but proceeded to lead the Wolverines to a Big Ten championship and a 9-3
overall record.
He completed 146 of 237 passes (61.6 percent) for 2,146 yards with 18
touchdown tosses and only four interceptions. He also ended well, leading the
Wolverines to a 33-11 win over Penn State, a 38-26 victory at Ohio State and a
31-28 triumph over Auburn in the Citrus Bowl. After that, he left Michigan to
sign with the New York Yankees.
