FROM OUR READERS the team, even hanging tough with, but ultimately losing to an under- ranked at the time, Utah team. Like so many lessons in life, enjoy the success of the moment when possible. Note that this season takes on added interest and expectation for success. Only Harbaugh knows what will satisfy his aspirations. In the meantime, I am going to look forward on the coming Satur- days for some competitive football, and perhaps even a Big Ten champi- onship or national championship in the future. Go Blue! J. Richard Jaconette, M.D. Battle Creek, Mich. No need to linger long on those stories, Dr. J. They're created to draw readership, and they do, often by those wishing Harbaugh were elsewhere. Those who know well insist he loves the challenge in Ann Arbor and is in it for the long haul. JUST SAY NO TO NOTRE DAME Dear The Wolverine: I agree with Chris Balas in regard to the question of resuming the se- ries with Notre Dame. I expressed similar sentiments in a letter to The Wolverine printed right after the Irish opted out of the series. My hope was that Michigan would enter into two-game (home and home) deals with top programs from around the country, which they have done. Michigan already will play all the Big Ten's strongest programs every year in the East Di- vision as well as rotating in poten- tially strong programs in the West in the ever-improving Big Ten. The 2016 class proves Michigan does not need to play Notre Dame to recruit well in Indiana. Notre Dame wants to play Michigan (af- ter nixing the MSU series as well) because they (Brian Kelly) heavily recruit in Michigan. Jim Hackett has made a lot of smart decisions, and I hope he does not resume this series. I have al- ways felt that the series benefited the Irish. The only time they should play Notre Dame (other than the playoff) is one game in The Big House. They owe Michigan a home game to even out the modern series. Other than that, the hell with Notre Dame! Michigan not only is perform- ing much better this year, they look better as well. Gone is the yellow that morphed into neon yellow in recent years. In its place is the more traditional maize. That along with white socks, black shoes and helmet stickers has made the home uniform perfect. I hope the only change next year is the Jordan Jumpman logo replacing the Adidas logo. As for the road (white on white) uniforms, I am not a fan. They should wear the same maize home pants with the white socks and black shoes. The road jersey should be the ones that Michigan (including Harbaugh) wore until 1996. I could live with this year's road jersey, but the aforementioned ones
